Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championship
ECSC (as it’s known to the locals) is a celebration of Beach Culture, presented by the Virginia Beach Jaycees. Surfers and body boarders of all ages engage in amateur and professional competitions at the Oceanfront all weekend. Volleyball tournaments, skateboarding clinics, and BMX demos fill out the days with after-parties every night.

Virginia Beach Neptune Festival
For the past 50 years, the Neptune Festival has been staging community events, wine tastings, free concerts, athletic events, and a 30-block long celebration of beach life. The annual Boardwalk Weekend will take place September 27 - 29, and includes an Art & Craft Show, the International Sandsculptuing Championship, a sailing regatta, Neptune’s Surfing Classic, Neptune’s Volleyball Tournament, a Dock Dogs competition, and the Neptune Festival Grand Parade.
The free concert series features headliners like:
- Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers (September 27, 9pm, 31st St. Park)
- Color Me Badd (September 28, 9:30pm, 31st St. Park)
- Everclear (September 28, 7:45pm, 24th St. Park)
- Marcy Playground (September 28, 6pm, 24th St. Park)
- Jimmy’s Chicken Shack (September 28, 4:30pm, 24th St. Park)
Leading up to Boardwalk Weekend are a host of other events:
