The Best Trails in Virginia Beach For Riding Bikes

Whether you enjoy leisurely bike rides or more adventurous ones, local trails offer plenty of cycling fun. Your journey may include stunning views and incredible wildlife sightings. The bike riding paths near our Virginia Beach apartments include:

Cape Henry Trail

Offering a journey through First Landing State Park, the Cape Henry Trail features a fun ride. Rated as easy, cyclists find both paved and dirt sections. Roots and sandy spots provide some challenges, while bridges allow for easy crossings. During your adventure, you may spot deer, foxes, and great blue herons.

Oak Grove Lake Park Trail

Nestled in nearby Chesapeake, Oak Grove Lake Park stretches 130 acres. This beautiful bike riding trail in Virginia Beach is surrounded by towering pine and maple trees, and the glistening lake draws dragonflies and an array of chirping birds. A 1.5-mile trail circles the perimeter of the lake. Cyclists enjoy riding through nature and many bird watch along the way. One of the species includes the belted kingfisher. These charming birds are stocky with large heads. They are blue-grey above with white underparts and a broad blue breast band.

Sandy Bottom Nature Park

The Sandy Bottom Nature Park is where visitors come to explore nature the way it was meant to be. Twelve miles of trails run through the park. They lead through hardwood forests, wetland marshes, and other habitats. As you pedal along, watch for white-tailed deer and the rarely seen Mabee's salamander.

After some mountain biking fun, grab a pizza to-go from a nearby restaurant. You can build your pie or enjoy a specialty creation. If you are looking for a place to call home, please contact us. We would love to offer a tour of Columbus Station, where you can see our apartments in Virginia Beach firsthand.
