Explore the Norfolk Botanical Garden from Home

Just 19 minutes from Columbus Station is a destination that's always in bloom.

We're talking about the Norfolk Botanical Garden, and there's something for every season. But you don't have to leave home to explore. The botanical garden offers several virtual tours you don't want to miss. Here are a few highlights you can enjoy from our Virginia Beach apartments:

NBG Tour

The NBG tour offers a fun look at the botanical garden. Founded in 1938, the garden welcomes thousands of visitors every year. During the tour, participants hear a short history as they highlight some of the most popular areas.

Japanese Garden

The Japanese Garden opened in 1962 in honor of Norfolk's sister city, Moji, Japan. It represents the traditional hill and pond-style Japanese gardens. Trees include false cypress, flowering cherry, and Japanese red maples. The tour was filmed in May 2020, and it highlights the garden's natural beauty.

Rose Garden

Spanning about three acres, the Rose Garden is the largest garden of its type on the East Coast. It's where you'll see over 3,000 plants representing 300 varieties. When in full bloom, over 250,000 flowers may be seen. It's a sight you don't want to miss. Join Allen Carter as he offers a tour from start to finish. Along the way, he'll highlight roses such as Snow Goose, Mardi Gras, and Coco Loco.

Norfolk Botanical Garden Shop

Give back as you shop for gifts online. Every purchase supports the garden. The selection features something for everyone, including hummingbird feeders, vases, puzzles, and more. The shop offers daily pickup between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

After your tour, enjoy some Mexican takeout from a local restaurant. Enjoy some of the best tacos, burritos, and enchiladas in the area!
