Enjoy a Game of Bocce Ball in Virginia Beach

One of the world's oldest lawn games, bocce ball began in Egypt around 5200 BC. Today, it's one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. More than 25 million Americans enjoy the game, and the object is to toss your balls as close to the target as possible. When you're ready to play, here are a few places near our Virginia Beach apartments where you'll find some bocce ball fun.

The Shack on 8th

At The Shack on 8th, you'll find a lawn full of games. The bocce courts are free, with no reservations necessary. You can play with friends or enhance your skills by joining one of the spring or summer leagues. When hunger strikes, enjoy one of Chef Aymer's delicious meals. He creates from scratch and takes advantage of the best seasonal ingredients. Offerings include crab cakes, shrimp kabobs, and crispy chicken sandwiches.

Beachside Social

Beachside Social invites everyone to come and grab a seat around their bocce ball courts in Virginia Beach. First-time players can learn in less than 5 minutes, and the courts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for an hourly fee. In addition, you can also play shuffleboard and your favorite board games. On the menu, you'll find tasty dishes designed for sharing and one-hand eating during gameplay. Choices include sweet chili wings, smoky brisket wraps, and beyond burger sliders.

Backyard Sports Club

When three friends decided to start a league that focused on fun and being active, the Backyard Sports Club was born. They began with Wiffle ball and soon added other games like bocce ball. Currently, the bocce ball leagues play at Maker's Craft Brewery in nearby Norfolk. They're co-ed, and you can enjoy a pint of ice-cold beer as you meet new friends.

For another way to stay active, enjoy a bike ride along a local trail. If you're looking for a place to call home, please contact us. We'll arrange a tour of Columbus Station, so you can see everything our apartments in Virginia Beach have to offer.
